Application of Magnitude and Phase Angle to Boundary Area-Based Algorithm for Unbalance Relay Protection Scheme in 115-kV Capacitor Bank

Identification of fault locations in capacitor banks is still under development. Although, faults can be detected by an unbalance relay, it cannot identify the location. To address this issue, study proposes algorithm that categorize protection zones, phases, and a bank using phase angle boundary area. The result showed proposed was effective indicating Performance compared with conventional methods based on Electricity Generating Authority Thailand standard phasor diagrams. It verified more than methods. useful for development relay operation.
